It was fun, but I think I need a lot more practice.
Mark (blackstrat) > November 28, 2008. Well, I hope all of you who celebrate Thanksgiving had a wonderful day. I, for one, will not be eating again until at least Sunday or Monday. I also hope we will all keep a place in our hearts for those who have less to be thankful for than we do. After a brief break for that turkey of a shot yesterday, it's time for the finale shot from Way, Way, Way Off Broadway. I give you Elvi #4, #5, #6 and #3 (again). Incidentally, the turkey is just fine. Around here, turkeys are as common (and just as pesty) as fleas on a junkyard dog. Earlier in the fall there was a flock of about thirty that passed through the yard every morning and evening on their feeding tour. They tear up the garden something awful, but to my way of thinking, they were here first, so we put up with the ugly things.

Mark (blackstrat) > November 25, 2008. Bob Hechtman, a.k.a. "Bob Hackman," was a character actor in Hollywood for many years, until he retired to the foothills near here. But he couldn't leave the spotlight alone, and started a remarkable and very active local theater group. His health is failing now, but he still manages to do a once-a-year performance at WWWOB. While the audience waited in anticipation, he slowly made his way onto the stage in his walker and was helped into a chair. Then they built the set around him, and he showed the younger performers how it's done. He got a standing ovation. He did a number from Spamalot. I guess the economy has hit everyone. The ham actor has been reduced to substituting Spam.&reg;
Mark (blackstrat) > November 24, 2008. I thought I'd give you a break from the Elvi for a day or two. This is "Hey, Big Spender," complete with original Bob Fosse choreography. Not that I'd know Bob Fosse from Fird Birfel; I'm just getting this stuff from the program.

Mark (blackstrat) > November 22, 2008. Elvis #2 charms the little ladies. Technically, it was Conrad Birdie, but he was just an Elvis wannabe.
Mark (blackstrat) > November 21, 2008. Elvi are in the building. Every year in our area there's a musical theater showcase called "Way, Way, Way Off Broadway." It's a revue with performances by the area's most talented performers. This year's theme was "All Shook Up." There wasn't an Elvis in every number, but there were enough that they were stepping all over each other's blue suede shoes. I'm afraid you're going to get sick of WWWOB before I'm through processing all these shots. I have 550 keepers, the highest number I've ever had from a shoot. I promise I won't make you look at them all. Here's Elvis #1.
Mark (blackstrat) > November 20, 2008. Well, I'm back, after nearly three weeks of stinking dreadful computer problems -- the problem being that I didn't want to go near the stinking dreadful thing. I've worked on computers every day for more than twenty-five years, and every once in a while I just get to where I don't want to have anything to do with them for awhile. After I finally got over my techno-disgust, I started playing with a friend's Alien Bee. After about three hours, to my dismay, I discovered my trusty D200 was badly out of adjustment. You can see the problem (and my frustration) in this SP. While it's well known that the camera adds ten pounds, my Nikon was consistently adding thirty! Nikon says there's nothing they can do about it, although they hinted that their next generation of cameras would have an adjustable blobopter that lets you dial in a chunkiness adjustment, just like the diopter does for your eyesight.
