OK, I'll bite, but I won't promise they'll all be new ones. In fact, I think I'll make it an opportunity to dig through my archives.

"Say, Mom, let me run something by ya, OK? Why don't we make a new rule so I get to rip things to shreds all the time, instead of just once a year? Wadda ya say? Shall we run it up the flagpole and see how it flaps?"

October is a busy month. My sister-in-law Tanya's birthday was the 1st, great-niece Isabella's was the 8th, my brand new great-nephew Jordan's was the 9th, my mother's was the 12th, my brother-in-law Dave's was the 21st, Isabella's brother Austin's was yesterday, and I'm mumbledy-mumble years old today!

On her first birthday, little princess Isabella was far too dainty to touch that sticky cake with her hands.

This is my great-nephew Gehrigg. Can anyone guess what sport his Dad is into? (I'm not sure what the extra "g" signifies.) Actually, I don't think Lou was his favorite; he just couldn't bring himself to name his son "Ruth."

I don't have many shots of him; it takes a really fast shutter speed to freeze his action.

Gordy the Banjo-ologist is a regular at street festivals in this area. He has more banjos than I have socks with missing mates. That's a lot of banjos.
Mark (blackstrat) > October 25, 2008.
Missed a day. Rats. Oh, well, life happens.
Shot these during the day playing around with a single flash.

My brother Paul shoots some pool with his son Preston. Their amusement isn't the result of the game; my sister-in-law Tanya perpetrated a drive-by tickle on both of them -- that's her hand poking Paul in the ribs.
Mark (blackstrat) > October 22, 2008.
This kid was the best base runner on my nephew Preston's little league team. He also bit his tongue a lot.

There are some hibiscus planted at one end of my house, and about 4:00 pm every day the setting sun filters through the trees behind them; I've been visualizing this shot for quite some time. Unfortunately, I don't get home from work until about 7:00, and weekends are so busy I've just never had the opportunity. Yesterday I took the day off.

If you never post pictures the same day you took them, is it cheating if you post one that was taken that day? It's after midnight, so I guess I'm safe either way. 8D

I want to thank all of you for your comments in the 72 days I've been a member of this group, and I feel guilty about not commenting more, but it's all I can do to find time to post a picture and race through as many of your photos as I can, frantically thumbs-upping right and left. The wealth of talent in this group stuns me. Some days I'm tempted to sell all my gear and take up soap carving or something so I could wash my failures down the drain; but then I'd miss all the fun here!

Vision problems run rampant in my family.
